THE GRIZZLY GATHERING
On June 21, 2008, twenty-five large, painted fiberglass grizzly sculptures will gather at the Park County Complex for an artists and sponsors reception and to inaugurate a fundraiser for the children and youth libraries of Park County.
This event, which will be open to the public, will give everyone a chance to see in one place these wonderful works of art based on a sculpture by Jeff Rudolph and embellished by twenty-seven regional artists.
Following the reception, the grizzlies will move to quarters around the area where they will be displayed during the summer. Maps will be available for those who want to follow their movements.
Then, in October, the first of the bears will be auctioned at the Buffalo Bill Art Show. The remainder will be sold at auction as the climax to the opening of the new Park County Library on October 4, 2008.
Come to Cody and see. From conception to final touch of color, these animals are unique painted sculptures, their themes drawing on such diverse sources as popular culture, traditional Western art, Indian folk art, and environmental and ecological movements. The works are marked by beauty of form, by lush, vivid color, and by strong graphic compositions.
